We Sit Back and Watch Our Lives Passing Us By
by Melissa Grant

We sit back and watch our lives passing us by,
and realize these really are the best years of our lives.

All our childhood loves and fears,
seem to fade away through the years.
It's all passing us by

Our friends come, our friends may go,
learning all the lessons we need to know.
The best years of our lives

First kisses, and the first taste of love,
wishing on our future on the stars above.
It's all passing us by

All the late nights full of laughter,
then the good-byes soon to follow after.
The best years of our lives

We look back to the past and see,
all we have to hold onto are these memories.
It's all passing us by

The good ol' times, and all of our friends,
we wonder why it has to end.
The best years of our lives

Growing up, preparing for life,
our innocence giving up without a fight.
It's all passing us by

No matter how hard it seems,
we can't let go of our dreams.
The best years of our lives

Don't regret a single day,
learn from the mistakes we've made.
It's all passing us by

Look at all the good times we've had,
and how we balanced them with all the bad.
The best years of our lives

All the smiles and tears we've cried,
never compromising who we are inside.
It's all passing us by
Friendships can mend, broken hearts do heal,
all these experiences are all too real.
The best years of our lives

But once it's over and it's time to say good-bye,
know we'll always have these memories.
And don't let it all just pass us by,
Because these truly are the best years of our lives.
