Words

by Melissa Williams

What should I do with my words today?

Should I have them on my shoelaces?

Let them dangle like TIN on the back of a newly weds van?

Should I FOLD them up, creatively and give them to a friend?

I could send them in a little box to a far away land.

I could stick them on a banner and fly it so very high

But, no, then I would have to listen to the people’s cries.

What should I do with my words today?

Should I hang them in my closet?

LOCKED away from the madness of the world?

Should I sing them loud in a sweet, sweet song?

Or paste them on a sheet of paper,

A collage of thoughts too strong to bend?

I will mold them,

Make them,

Shape them,

And place them,

Carefully,

On this page.
