Someone's Child
By Frances C. M. Wright

I see a child who cries in pain
Who suffers for her mother's sins
She has no friends nor knows no fame
She cannot heal the child within

She cries and lashes out at others
She hates her sisters and her brothers
She knows not what causes her pain
She wishes someone would ease her shame

She knows not why she is hateful
She knows not why she cries
She only wishes for one true friend -
To help her when she tries

Her days are long and lonely
There's no one to reach out to
No one seems to care
No one is ever there

She cries herself to sleep at night
She wishes the pain away
But she wakes up every morning
And prays for a better day

She will not give up -
Even though she is alone
She has the strength to endure
Until the day she's gone

She wonders if anyone will miss her
If they will even know she was here
For she's quiet now after having cried -
For attention - year after year after year

Will someone not see her and notice
The pain she's going through
Will someone not understand
She's done the best she can do

Reach out and show her kindness
Lend her a helping hand
For she could be your child
In a faraway, desolate land

Go the extra mile
To help this child in need
And some day you will see
The miracle of a good deed

God will truly bless you
And your deed will be passed on
For the good you do for others -
Will some day come back home!
