The Rhythm
By Angel Benejan
All of creation moves in rhythm.
The beat can be as fast as the wings on a hummingbird.
Or as slow as the echo of a wave crashing on the shore.
However, the sound is unmistakable it declares life.
We hear it in our ears when we are angry,
We feel it in our chest when we are scared.
It warns us when we are in danger,
And brings us to tears when in pain.
And when the rhythm becomes loud enough and deep enough,
The pulse moves us and we become part of it.
And for that moment in time we become one with all of creation.
And once the rhythm is gone, so are we.
