Ash God
J.L. TerrellThe crag sends
Circles in smoke,
Mists of heaven
Over the village.Ash of angels
Cursing long faces
On the road drawn in
Where the lava rolls.Blasts of black
And sizzling stone
Flying out a hot mouth
To their ready cheeks
With smoldering snow
In their hair.At dawn, dusk, and twilight,
They look away
To a sky in siege,
And those rock bridges
Where the waves
Are
Breaking in smoke.A rumbling under toe
Lingering in the mountain,
Rattling in its cage,A Demi-God
Under
Shroud.
