The Click
Tina S. Hamlett

Let me tell you about "The Click"
you know what it is & what I mean;
every little town has one & all new
comers want to be part of the scene.

You will try so hard to be accepted
by them & in their "click"
you want to be part of it so bad,
yet it seems you are never their pick.

It seems like the place to be,
they seem like such wonderful friends;
you think you will have to be better
to ever fit in, so you will pretend.

People in the click claim to do no wrong,
they are so proper & so polite,
never would they even dream of
alcohol, drugs, or staying out all night.

Click families are so perfect & the
marriages are problem free,
the children are just like the parents,
looking down their noses at you & me.

Trust me my friend, the click is
not at all what it once seemed;
just when you think you are in, you
find out you are being double-teamed.

The click is not the place to be
or the friends you need to meet;
it is really more of an illusion
only filled with unhappiness & deceit.

Of course click friends will talk to you
with so much care & deep concern,
when in their deceitful minds,
they only care about what they can learn.

Click friends will take pride in creating
drama only to cause you pain,
they don't want you to succeed-
unless of course they benefit or gain.

They will say you are a monster &
criticize everything that you do,
but we all know there is no such thing
as monsters or a "Ms. Goody 2 Shoe."

The click friends you once saw
or talked to every day,
all of a sudden will pass you by
with hardly a word to say.

The real click has no real friends
& its actually kind of sad you see,
they would have nothing to do or
talk about if it were not for you & me.

The click will give you no chance,
they will judge you without a trial;
real friends will support you, walk
with you, or even carry you every mile.

Real friends will be your rock &
they will always be around;
click friends will stand by &
watch you crumble to the ground.

Real friends are a part of your
life & a part of your heart;
click friends will take part
in ripping your life & heart apart.

If after my words you feel the same
& you want to be in the click & pretend,
remember, you will never be lucky as
me to have true-blue friends 'til the end.

You soon will know who I am &
by now, you definitely know how I feel;
but from my words, you should know
Who you are... now how do you feel???
