The Roots of Me
By Lupita Rodriguez

I am the generous oak tree you can sit under when you need to stop and breathe.
I am the gentle breeze that caresses your body like a sweet embrace.
Every inhilation of oxygen from my branch lulls you to relax.
I am the calm grass you can trust enough to make love on.
This I see by how delicately and gracefully your body nurtures it.
You understand that all you need for something to grow and be beautiful:
Is simply Nourishment.
I am the sand you like to bury your body in.
You rest on my hills and run this earth's creation through your fingers.
You play with me and build me up to your highest tower.
I am the mud children love to play with.
I inspire through feeling.
Teaching through taste.
Create a giggle with a sound.
Things only a mother could do.

I am mystery: I withhold beautiful treasures deep inside my ocean.
I am rich: I contain lucrative oils beneath my earth tone.

I am a twin of the Stars.
