About Polis
Polis: a community center (Greek marketplace); a place where a community dialogue occurs; perhaps a sacred ground;
Central Virginia Community College's Literary JournalPolis accepts submission of poetry, fiction, nonfiction (including academic essays), and artwork by CVCC students twice a year. CVCC students submit three copies of their work (no name attached-contact information is provided on a separate cover sheet), and at least three Polis Board Members review each work using criteria established by the board. When submissions receive contradictory ratings, at least one additional board member reviews the work in question.
This year (2005-2006), we decided to include the works of faculty and staff as we attempt to create a publication that is truly reflective of the community. Works by faculty and staff go through the same submission and rating process as do works submitted by students.
