Men Are Dogs

I overheard a woman say “Men are dogs”
So I replied “Thank you.”
Noticing her bewildered look, I explained:
“As both a man and a dog lover,
I take that as a compliment.
Dogs are first and foremost loyal,
and would gladly give their lives
To protect someone they love.
Second, while both men and dogs
Often do some gross things,
We are also just as capable
Of showering someone in affection.
I'll admit that both can be mean and angry
But so can any other life form familiar with pain.
Neither of us gives up easily
Hence the term 'Dogged'
But despite our outward toughness,
We both just want love and respect.
When you look at it that way,
Is it any wonder that dogs
Are called 'Man's Best Friend?'”
