Earth
Shaun Callaghan

The world spins idly upon a broken will
Mankind moves around sluggishly looking for its fill
Of love and laughter that sits far beyond us upon a hill
Out of reach of all of man’s ills

Time glides by us smooth as silk
Space runs from us, keeled to the hilt
Broken stars wander aimlessly through the milk
Through a place we all so often visit, to which we have built

Loneliness and despair is all that remains there
Hope is a lost cause that cannot be shared
Upon all races we are the great blue hares
Running endlessly upon broken air

The fallen doe sings a tune
The flightless dove stares into the moon
The frozen tundra of tropical typhoons
All live in the heart’s that never bloom

An empty place that traps it’s prey
A place of damned and where lives do fray
Where creatures stand by and watch the rat race
Conquer the inevitable and let lose there plague

Where punishment is birth
And escape is death
Where all there lies is pain and hurt
A place we know all to well as Earth
